I can honestly say that I’ve never been inspired like I was after watching 180 Degrees South. Not many films can make you want to jump off the couch and just go as far away from normalcy as a car can take you, but that’s what happened. It was my third time seeing the film in a month, and my good friend’s first. Immediately after it was over we decided that we could no longer settle for what’s in front of us. 6 Days later 3 of us were in my car making the drive from the unexciting, flat Chicago suburbs to the Beartooth Mountains in Montanta. It may not be Patagonia, but it’s a start.
It was a short trip (a little less than a week total), but it did all of the things I thought it could do and more. It was time spent with some of my best friends, just listening to our hearts and going for it with no reservations. I’ve come back and realized that everything I’ve been on track for for my entire life hasn’t really been my idea. At this point I don’t know where I want to go or what I want to be, but I do know that if I keep being a good person and travel long enough, I’ll figure it all out.
